The W.E.B. Major Crimes and Drug Task Force is a collaborative, multi-jurisdictional investigative unit that proactively investigates drug offenses and/or other major felony crimes. The task force has been designed to take a proactive approach in combating drug activity and other violent and/or felony crimes within the borders of the three member towns. The purpose of the multi-jurisdictional approach is to foster law enforcement through cooperation in a cost effective manner.
The W.E.B. has been working together since 1999 and is made up of 12 detectives from the East Bridgewater, Bridgewater, West Bridgewater, Whitman and Bridgewater State University Police Departments.
The task force was created with the support the Edward Byrne Memorial State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance Program from U.S. Department of Justice, administered through the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety Programs Division.
The W.E.B. is one of many multi-jurisdictional task forces administered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety.
