Police Cadets

From February 16 – March 18, 2024, the Bridgewater Police Department is accepting applications from qualified residents to fill one full-time (40 hours per week) — or a possible part-time — vacancy for the position of Police Cadet, M.G.L.c.147 s.21A.

All completed applications must be submitted in person to the Bridgewater Police Department no later than Monday, March 18, 2024.

Candidates must have a High School Diploma, be between the ages of 18 and 23 and must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.

These are non-civil service at-will appointments that expire when a Police Cadet reaches the age of 25. All candidates must be physically and psychologically fit, of high moral character and a person of sound judgment seeking a career in law enforcement willing to make a commitment to serving the community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answering telephones and communicating with the public; maintaining and filing records; receiving complaints and completing reports; monitoring and assisting with detainees; and performing other administrative tasks as assigned.

ALL CANDIDATES MUST PASS THE FOLLOWING:

  • Background investigation
  • Oral interview board
  • Physical fitness exam
  • Psychological screening
  • Drug screening
  • Medical examination

BENEFITS:
Salary: $22 per hour, health and paid holiday benefits, vacation leave after one year.
