BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher D. Delmonte and the Bridgewater Police Department invite residents to register for a two-night training on responding to an active shooter or other violent incident.
WHEN:
Tuesday, April 11, and Wednesday, April 12, from 6-8 p.m. each night
WHERE:
Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School, 415 Center St., Bridgewater
WHAT:
The Bridgewater Police Department will host a two-night training program for residents on how to react to an active shooter or other threat. The course, which will be taught by Bridgewater Police officers, will combine classroom instruction with hands-on, scenario-based training exercises.
The training will provide attendees with an introduction to the ALICE model, which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate. This model is a training method used to help educate the general public on how to respond to an armed intruder or other violent incident. The course teaches attendees important skills and how to make life-saving decisions in response to a critical incident to protect themselves and those around them.
The training program is free to attend, however, class size is limited and registration is required. Those interested in attending should contact Detective Kevin Kearns at kkearns@bridgewaterma.org to register.
