BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher D. Delmonte and the Bridgewater Police Department are pleased to share that applications for the 24th class of the Bridgewater Citizen’s Police Academy are now being accepted.
WHEN:
Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 12, the Citizen’s Police Academy will run for 10 weeks every Tuesday from 6-9 p.m.
WHO:
Any resident 21 years or older is encouraged to apply.
WHERE:
All classes will take place at the Bridgewater Police Station, 220 Pleasant St.
WHAT:
The Citizen’s Police Academy is designed to help Bridgewater residents learn more about the department’s daily operations and services. The program is intended to inform residents and develop a working relationship with the community to solve problems within the town, not to train citizens as law enforcement officials.
The topics taught during the 10-week program include constitutional law, motor vehicle law, community policing, use of force, K-9 unit, domestic violence, patrol procedures, officer survival, ALICE active shooter training, defensive tactics, drone operations, OUI liquor, mock trial and courtroom procedures and drug enforcement.
Participants will also be able to ride-along with officers on patrol, tour the Old Colony Correctional Institution at Bridgewater and observe the judicial process at Brockton District Court.
