BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher D. Delmonte is pleased to announce that the Bridgewater Police Department participated in the Massachusetts Military Support Foundation’s (MMSF) event “Coats4Vets Buckets” earlier today.
The event was organized by the Massachusetts Military Support Foundation in partnership with local police departments, State Police barracks and local sheriff’s departments to help distribute coats to veterans in need.
Local police officers from the state’s 351 cities and towns convoyed in police cruisers and other police vehicles to Gillette Stadium to retrieve their buckets. Each bucket contains a coat, masks, hand sanitizer and snacks that will be distributed to veterans in local officers’ cities and towns. Police officers from across the state will then give out the buckets as a way to engage and connect with homeless veterans in their communities.
“It was a great honor for our department to be able participate in this event that provides coats and care to veterans in our community,” Chief Delmonte said. “Also, with the support of our local charities, we take time to appreciate and recognize the sacrifices of all our veterans.”
The Massachusetts Military Support Foundation has distributed 34,500 coats to veterans since 2016. The sponsors and donors for this years “Coats4Vets Buckets” include the Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, New England Patriots Foundation, Ocean State Job Lot, and Home Depot.
