Bridgewater Police Host Second Annual 5k & Kids Fun Run
BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte and the Bridgewater Police Department are pleased to announce the success of their Second Annual Bridgewater Police 5K and one-mile Kids Fun Run on Saturday, Sept. 26.
“We are so pleased to have put on another successful road race this year,” Chief Delmonte said. “This event is always such a great day for the community to get out in the fresh air and raise money for a good cause.”
The road race, a 5K for adults and a one-mile race for children, took participants on a USA Track & Field certified course throughout Bridgewater, starting and ending at the Bridgewater Police Station.
This year, proceeds from the race were donated to the Paul Chuilli Jr., Memorial Fund for the West Bridgewater High School for 2015. Paul Chuilli Jr., a senior at West Bridgewater Middle-Senior High School, died in a single-car crash on December 10, 2014.
The top three adult male and female runners in each age bracket, including a law enforcement bracket, received an award. Three awards were also given to finalists in the children’s one-mile race. All participants who crossed the finish line received a finishers medal, and all children who participated received a ribbon upon crossing the finish line and also a certificate of participation.
Following the race, runners were able spend the rest of the day in Bridgewater and enjoy Autumn-Fest 2015 on the quad at Bridgewater State University, where guests could enjoy food, music, crafts, and other activities from more than 100 vendors.
