On Monday November 10th at approximately 11:00am, the Bridgewater Police and Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. The accident occurred on Summer St. adjacent to the Walgreens parking lot.
The accident involved a single vehicle that was exiting the Walgreens parking lot attempting to make a left hand turn. While turning into traffic, the vehicle struck a female pedestrian that was attempting to cross Summer St. According to witnesses, the pedestrian was in the roadway at the time of accident and not in a crosswalk. The pedestrian was treated at the scene by Bridgewater Police Officers and Bridgewater Fire Department Paramedics. The pedestrian was subsequently transported to the Brockton Hospital by the Bridgewater Fire Department Ambulance with severe head trauma.
The operator of the vehicle (1SNX80, 2003 Ford Van Gray) is identified as Robert Duke age 58 of Bridgewater. The pedestrian is identified as Roberta Harris, age 68, also of Bridgewater.
Assistance was required from Massachusetts State Police Accident Re-construction team, Plymouth County Sherriff’s Department, and Bridgewater State University Police Department. No criminal charges have been filed at this time, the accident is still under investigation.
