On September 12, 2013 at approximately 1:20pm the Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist. The accident was in the area of 915 Plymouth St. adjacent to Bernier’s Liquor Store.
Upon arrival of the scene, investigating officers observed the bicyclist, identified as Jared Soccorso age 26 of 191 Walnut St. Bridgewater, had been struck by a Gray 2007 Nissan and had injuries to his head and face. The vehicle was operated by Ralph J Dipesa of 803 Plymouth St. Bridgewater. (64 Years of age) The bicyclist struck the driver’s side door and was thrown through the driver’s door window.
Upon further investigation it was revealed that the bicyclist was riding his bike westerly on Plymouth St. and as he was crossing the entrance to Bernier’s Liquor Store a gray Nissan swerved in front of the bicyclist in an attempt to drive in the parking lot of the business. The bicyclist then collided with the vehicle.
The bicyclist was transported to the Brockton Hospital by the Bridgewater Fire Department with head and facial injuries.
The operator of the vehicle was placed under arrest and charged with:
1) OUI Liquor causing Serious Bodily Injury
2) OUI Drugs causing Serious Bodily Injury
3) Fail to use care in turned
