Bridgewater Police Arrest and Charge Man with Attempted Murder Following Stabbing
BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte reports that Bridgewater Police have charged a man with two counts of attempted murder and other charges following an incident Monday morning where he allegedly stabbed a man and a woman several times in their home.
Police have determined that this was not a random act of violence and that the suspect and victims are known to each other. Police are not seeking any additional suspects. There is no further threat or danger to the community.
ANDREW SOTO-BONNETT, AGE 27, OF LEESBURG, FLORIDA, was charged with:
- Attempted Murder (Two Counts)
- Aggravated Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Two Counts)
SOTO-BONNETT was taken to a local hospital for evaluation following his arrest. He is expected to be arraigned at Brockton District Court Monday afternoon.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., Bridgewater Police responded to a home on Yoke Road for a report of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers came upon a 46-year-old woman who suffered more than a dozen stab wounds to her head, neck and face. A male victim, age 50, suffered six stab wounds to his upper body and torso. The victims, who are husband and wife, were taken by ambulances to a local hospital. The woman was later transported to a Boston hospital. Their injuries are serious but are not believed to be life-threatening.
SOTO-BONNETT was still at the home when officers arrived and was placed under arrest without further incident.
The preliminary investigation indicates that SOTO-BONNETT was staying at the home of the victims after flying into Providence Sunday night from Florida. The female victim awoke at 5:20 a.m. today to get ready for work when she was called out of the bedroom by SOTO-BONNETT. At that time, SOTO-BONNETT allegedly attacked her with a knife taken from the kitchen in the home.
The male victim attempted to stop the assault and was subsequently stabbed. The woman was able to flee from the house to a nearby neighbor’s home, and she called 911 was called. The male victim also called 911.
The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
