Bridgewater Police Identify Motorcyclist Killed in Crash

Bridgewater Police Identify Motorcyclist Killed in Crash

BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte is identifying the motorcyclist killed in a crash on Route 18 in Bridgewater Thursday as Richard Silva, age 71, of Brockton.

At approximately 11:50 a.m. Thursday, police responded to the area of 350 Bedford St. (Route 18) for a report of a serious crash involving a sedan and a motorcycle.

Silva was taken by ambulance to a Brockton hospital where he later died.

The driver of the sedan, ANTHONY HATHAWAY, AGE 29, OF WHITMAN, was arrested and is facing numerous charges. HATHAWAY is expected to be arraigned today in Brockton District Court.

Bridgewater Police Department Re-Accreditation Community Announcement

Chief Christopher Delmonte is pleased to announce that a team of assessors from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 through Thursday, June 6, 2019 to conduct an on-site re-Accreditation assessment. The Department has been an Accredited police agency since 2016 and must undergo a re-assessment every three years.
