Bridgewater Police Searching for Vehicle Involved in Motorcycle Crash with Serious Injuries
BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte reports that the Bridgewater Police Department is actively searching for a motor vehicle believed to be involved in a motorcycle crash that occurred over the weekend.
On Sunday, July 24, just before 8 p.m., the Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments responded to several 911 calls reporting a collision involving a motorcycle on Bedford Street (Route 18) at the intersection of Winter Place Plaza.
Upon arrival to the scene, Bridgewater Police and paramedics located two occupants of a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle, an operator and a passenger, who suffered serious injuries.
Police learned that the motorcycle, in an effort to avoid colliding with a vehicle that pulled out in front of it, swerved off the roadway and struck a tree.
The operator of the motorcycle, a 49-year-old man from Middleborough, was transported to the Brockton Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. He was then taken by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
The passenger, a 53-year-old woman of Wareham, was transported to Boston Medical Center by ambulance with serious injuries.
After reviewing video surveillance from the area of the crash, police are actively searching for a red, four door sedan, possibly a Honda Civic, that appears to be involved.
Anyone with information on the crash, or who recognizes the vehicle in the video or photos, is asked to call Detective Sgt. Anne Schuster at 508-659-1514 or the detectives’ main number at 508-279-1111.
