BURNED FEMALE VICTIM FOUND IN BRIDGEWATER IDENTIFIED, INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
BROCKTON – The identity of a female victim found dead and burned in Bridgewater has been identified and State Police and Bridgewater Police continue to actively investigate her death, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced today.
Ashley Bortner (DOB: 03/12/86) of New Jersey, was the female victim found burned at the scene in Bridgewater Tuesday night.
Bridgewater Police received a 911 call at approximately 11:40 pm Tuesday night for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked and two people seen in the area of the MBTA railroad tracks at Oak and Crapo Streets in Bridgewater. Upon arrival, Bridgewater Police discovered a fire burning on the west side of the tracks and determined that it was a human body burning. Bridgewater Fire responded, extinguished the fire and determined the female victim deceased.
State Police Detectives and Bridgewater Police have been actively investigating the case and have determined that this was a targeted act and not random and the public is not believed to be in any danger. Additionally, the Bridgewater incident does not appear to be related to a burned body and car fire in Worcester on Wednesday night.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact State Police Detectives at 508-923-4000.
