On Tuesday February 11th at 5:20pm, Bridgewater Police and Fire personnel were dispatched to 21 Grove St. in reference to a 911 call from a female party who was reporting that her boyfriend had shot himself with a handgun.
Responding Bridgewater Police Officers secured the scene and medical personnel from the Bridgewater Fire Department treated the involved party, later identified as, Brandon Cunha of 21 Grove St. Bridgewater (age 22).
Mr. Cunha was transported to the South Shore Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his lower leg. Initial reports reveal that the gun shot was an accidental discharge of a .45 caliber hand gun.
The shot was fired by Mr. Cunha accidentally as he was just finishing from cleaning the firearm. The incident is under investigation by Bridgewater Police Detectives. No charges have been sought as of yet.
