On October 6, 2013 at approximately 12:48 am, the Bridgewater Police Department received several 911 calls reporting a stabbing outside of the Broad Street Pub located at 39 Broad St. in Bridgewater.
Upon arrival officers located the victim, later identified as Jacob Klapman (21 years old) from Abington, MA, who had been stabbed nine times in the neck, abdomen and back. Responding officers immediately began administering life saving first aid measures until members of the Bridgewater Fire Department and the Raynham ambulance arrived. The victim was subsequently transported to the South Shore Hospital with serious injuries.
There were several witnesses to the assault and as a result a vehicle and suspect description was given to area police departments. Shortly afterwards, an East Bridgewater Police Officer observed the fleeing vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in East Bridgewater.
James Chalmers (22 years old), Jason Hodo (23 years old) and Nicholas Hodo (44 years old) all from Brockton, MA were subsequently placed under arrest, transported back to Bridgewater and charged with Aggravated Assault & Battery, Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Attempted Murder.
The suspects are being held a Plymouth House of Correction until arraignment on Monday morning in Brockton District Court. At this point in the investigation it appears that the motive to the stabbing is gang related.
